Calf First’s organic Whole Milk comes from farms that keep cows and calves together for longer, allowing calves to feed naturally from their mothers before weaning.
What makes me special?
- Cow and calf system. Calves stay with their mothers for three to five months after birth, feeding naturally until they are ready to be weaned.
- Small, stable herds. Cows are kept in groups of around ten with similar calving dates, giving birth and rearing calves within the same group.
- No milking during nursing. Cows are not milked while feeding their calves and only join the main milking herd once calves are weaned.
- Better social development. Calves raised with their mothers are described as more sociable, less fearful and less prone to stress related behaviours.
