Europe’s dark and brooding breads begin with a suitably deep, dark rye flour and now so can yours. Hodmedod’s Rye Flour is organic, wholegrain, and stone-milled to keep every ounce of flavour and texture in the mix. The deep, distinctive taste gives your bakes a strong nuttiness that can even be mixed with other flours to bolster their flavour. So, don’t hesitate to make the dark, dense bread of your dreams with this wholesome flour.

A bag of beans and a little curiosity may sound like the start of a fairytale but Hodmedod’s success is no fantasy. They source peas, beans, lentils and other pulses from British farms, encouraging a new diversity of crops to return to the country. The breadth of their range stretches from half-forgotten Iron Age fava beans to lentils grown in cutting edge agro-forests. With crops more readily available close to home, Hodmedod’s are shrinking food miles down with every bean.

Storage & prep

Store in a cool, dry place. 100% wholegrain rye flour (dark rye) has a distinctive flavour, traditionally used in robust, close textured breads. Rye flour can be blended with other flours or used alone to make bread, pancakes, pastries and biscuits. It also makes an excellent sourdough starter.
