Water kefir is a fermented drink made by combining filtered water, fruits and a small amount of sugar with water kefir grains. Each grain only consists of symbiotic bacteria and yeast, with no actual grains such as wheat and rye. Water kefir is similar to kombucha but contains different strains of probiotics and digestive enzymes and so works differently in the gut. Water kefir is less acidic than kombucha and tastes milder.
