Great for a fish pie, hake’s firm, sweet, white meat makes it one of our best fish. It’s got a medium flake and a milder flavour than cod.
Our hake comes from both Cornwall and the Irish/North Seas. From Cornwall it will either be gill or fixed netted and have an MCS rating of 1. When caught in the Irish/North Sea, it will be pelagic/demersal otter trawled and have an MCS rating of 2. Caution: Although every care has been taken to remove bones, some may remain.

Storage & prep

This hugely popular fillet is perfect in batter but can also be pan fried, steamed, or roasted. It works wonderfully with a variety of herbs, particularly rosemary and garlic.

We guarantee that your fish will have at least 3 days before its expiry date, including the day of your delivery. Suitable for home freezing. Freeze as soon as possible after delivery and use within one month of freezng. Ensure that the fish is fully defrosted before cooking. Once defrosted do not re-freeze.
