Organic bergamot citrus are quite the kingly fruit. They were first used back in the 16th century during King Louis XIV of France's reign to add scent to perfumes (Eau de Cologne is still heavily scented with bergamot). Their floral and exotic aromas are now used in aromatherapy, to relax the body and mind. It's also what you taste in those soothing cups of Earl Grey so these are delicious sliced into your afternoon cuppa. They also make great desserts like citrus tart and marmalade too. Bergamot now thrives in Calabria on the Ionian coast, an area that now produces 80% of all bergamot.

Producer
The Minisci family have been growing vegetables, stone fruit and citrus for generations. It’s a real family affair with brother and sister duo, Anita and Angelo, who now manage the day to day running of the farm. Located in Calabria, Southern Italy, they work with other families in the region to form a cooperative of organic growers, producing things such as olive oil, grapes and brassicas.
Ingredients & allergens
Abel & Cole handles celery, celeriac, peanuts and nuts on site. Due to our packing process and re-use of boxes there is a risk of cross-contamination from these, and all other allergens.
While we do everything we can to ensure the information on this page is correct, ingredients, nutritional and dietary information are subject to change. So along with the information on our website, we always recommend that you read each label carefully before enjoying your items.
Storage & prep
Use the juice to flavour yoghurt or squeeze for salad dressings or vinaigrettes. Bergamots also love to be paired with fish. Try giving it a squeeze over grilled mackerel. They also happen to make an excellent marmalade. Don’t forget to wash your fruit and veg before use.
Where the
wild things are
We all love butterflies, birds and bees. Choosing organic is better for the environment. Organic farms encourage wildlife and biodiversity (by not using chemical sprays, and by having more hedgerows, fallow land and wildflowers).
