Not your average supermarket bread; made by traditional long fermentation processes with no improvers, preservatives, or palm oil. This loaf is made with malthouse flour for a crunchy crust and studded with sweetly nutty malted wheat flakes. Perfect for a toasting and slathering with butter to start your day, or pile on your favourite fillings for a lunchtime sandwich.

Producer
When Alan Davis finished a 20-year stint working at BT as an engineer in 1995, there was only one thing he wanted to do: make really good traditional bread. So he teamed up with his wife Jane to form The Authentic Bread Company. They transformed their garage in Gloucestershire into a fully functioning bakery, and after just a few months of trading, they won their first Soil Association Organic Food Award for their olive bread. The whole family is involved too – Alan’s children Emily and Alex both joined the family business after graduating – and they are all obsessed with finding the best quality organic ingredients available. They use traditional long fermentation and handmade methods of production, which although might take longer, produce really delicious bread with great texture and a superior taste. To date, the Authentic Bread Company has won over 15 awards, including six Soil Association Awards.

Storage & prep
Best stored in bread bins made out of wood or unglazed clay as metal and plastic prevent the bread from 'breathing' and encourage the growth of mould. Cotton bags or even paper bags are good provided they are stored in a cool dry place. Do not store bread in the refrigerator as this actually encourages the aging process. Our bread freezes well, but it is only worth doing if you want to store it for more than 5 days.
We guarantee that your bakery order will have a minimum of 3 days before its expiry date, including the day you have it delivered.
