Pear, Avocado & Ginger Thickie

This smooth operator gets its velvety creaminess from cool avocado and a splash of brown rice drink, whizzed with sweet pears, juicy orange segments and a spicy slice of fresh ginger to make a super refreshing eye-opener of a shake.

Ingredients you'll need
  • 1 avocado
  • 2 pears
  • 1cm slice of ginger
  • 1 orange
  • 330ml brown rice drink

Step by step this way

    Have the avocado and remove the stone. Scoop the avocado flesh out into your blender. Cut the pears into quarters and slice out the cores. Add the pears to the blender.

    Slice a 1cm chunk off the ginger, then peel and grate it in. Squeeze in the juice from the orange.

    Pour in 330ml brown rice drink (save the rest for this week’s other smoothies). Add a handful of ice cubes to the blender and whizz till smooth, then pour the smoothie into glasses and serve.

  • Tip

    Ripe for the blending
    When you unpack your box, pop the avocado into your fruit bowl. Storing it at room temperature with other fruit, like bananas and kiwis, will help make sure it’s ripe and ready to use. You’ll know it’s ripe when the flesh just gives when you very gently squeeze it with your fingertips.
