Warm and inviting on the nose, this Rioja is incredibly sumptuous for this level. With the faintest hint of vanilla and oak, it's mostly intense, ripe and very pure black cherry and spicy fruit. It's easy to drink and tastes great over several days.

Navarrsotillo is a medium sized but wholly organic estate towards the more Mediterranean end of the area of Rioja. Unusually for round here, only grapes grown on the estate are used in the wine, so quality is entirely in the hands of the owners, in this case the Serrano family. You don’t have to talk to them for long to realise their burning commitment to quality, something that is very apparent in the array of handcrafted wines they produce. One of our favourites is the straightforward Noemus, with an absolute minimum of oak and bags of rich, ripe, spicy fruit.

Storage & prep

Serve at cool room temperature, having let it breathe in a decanter or jug. Or, as it keeps really well, you can drink it over 2-3 days but keep it cool in between. It works particularly well with stews, cold meats, and barbecues.
