Sticky Honey & Smoked Paprika Chicken Drumsticks

Sticky Honey & Smoked Paprika Chicken Drumsticks

These tasty chicken drummers have a sweet and smokey flavour thanks to the sticky mix of honey, smoked paprika, garlic and thyme which is used to glaze them while they roast. Eat them warm with rice or roasties and a crunchy green salad, or let them cool then pack them up in your picnic basket.

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • A few thyme sprigs
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp runny honey

Method

1. Preheat your oven to 200°C/Fan 180°C/Gas 6. Arrange the chicken drumsticks in a large roasting tin and season with a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Dust over 2 tbsp smoked paprika and drizzle with 2 tbsp olive oil. Turn the drumsticks and rub the spices and oil into them till evenly coated. Slide the chicken into the hot oven and roast for 50 mins.
2. While the chicken cooks, thinly slice the garlic cloves. Pick the thyme leaves off the woody sprigs. Slice the lemon into wedges.
3. After 50 mins, remove the chicken from the oven. Sprinkle over the thyme and garlic, and drizzle with 2 tbsp honey. Toss to coat the chicken and return to the oven for a further 5 mins, till sticky. Transfer the chicken to a large serving plate and serve warm with lemon wedges for squeezing and your favourite sides. These drumsticks are also delicious served cold.
