These organic purple French beans are a bit confused. Delicious, but confused. Sure, they’re beans, but they’re not from France. They’re from Martin at White Thorn Farm in Herefordshire. They don’t even know what colour they are – an amazing purple colour when raw, but they turn green when cooked. Ah well, what’s in a name anyway? A bean by any other name would taste as sweet. They just wouldn’t be so exciting to watch cooking.

Some of our purple french beans come from Martin Soble at White Thorn Farm in the Herefordshire hills. Martin also grows our summer berries. He farms in a very traditional way – keeping crop sizes small, growing everything outside, and working with nature and the seasons. Go Martin!

Storage & prep

These French beans just need a little light steaming, and a small knob of butter. They also go well in stir fries. French beans keep best in a paper bag in the bottom of your fridge.
