Dalgona Coffee

A fluffy, fashionable coffee sensation that’s as photogenic as it is delicious. Dalgona is Korean for ‘honeycomb’, describing this drink’s soft, foamy topping made with instant coffee, sugar and hot water. Cap glasses of warm milk (dairy or plant-based) with this sweet, pillowy topping for a satisfyingly strong, snappable sip.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp instant coffee
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 2 tbsp boiling water
  • 400ml milk of your choice

Method

1. Boil your kettle. Pop the instant coffee and sugar into a heatproof bowl then add 2 tbsp hot water from the kettle. Beat with an electric whisk for 2-3 mins till the coffee is fluffy, pale brown and holds in stiff peaks.
2. Warm the milk of your choice in the microwave or in a pan on the hob, gently stirring, till steaming hot. Pour the warm milk into 2 serving glasses, then spoon over the foamy coffee and serve.
