These unwaxed bitter oranges are perfect for marmalading and cooking

Perfect for making marvellous marmalade, our organic Seville oranges come from Francisco Espinosa’s groves in sun-drenched Málaga. With more bitterness than a classic orange, Seville oranges aren’t ideal for peeling and snacking on. Instead, try squeezing their juice into a tangy salad dressing or a sauce that’s got enough zing to hold its own with the richest game and meat dishes. Sustainable Seville oranges are in season from the end of December to the beginning of January or February, so enjoy these exquisitely perfumed citrus fruits while they’re here.

Ingredients & allergens

Abel & Cole handles celery, celeriac, peanuts and nuts on site. Due to our packing process and re-use of boxes there is a risk of cross-contamination from these, and all other allergens.

While we do everything we can to ensure the information on this page is correct, ingredients, nutritional and dietary information are subject to change. So along with the information on our website, we always recommend that you read each label carefully before enjoying your items

Storage & prep

Best kept in the fridge. The tangy juice can also be used in salad dressings and sauces to cut through the richness of meat and game. The classic French bigarade is a delicious example: a dark, port-enriched, orange-flavoured sauce that is traditionally served with roast duck. The juice makes a great alternative to lime or lemon juice in ceviche. Plump meaty scallops and oily mackerel work especially well. You can also use Seville oranges to create versatile flavoured oils and vinegars, just drop a piece or two of oven-dried peel into the bottle and leave for a while to infuse.
