Drum roll, please. These eight juicy free range chicken drumsticks are the stuff picnics and barbecues were invented for. Tender, lean, higher than high welfare meat that just falls off the bone. The main event of any meal.

Producer

We've been looking for free range chicken that meets our standards as holders of a RSPCA Good Business Award for animal welfare. Peter and Sue run a chicken cooperative of free range farms in Devon, and their expertise and passion made us a perfect pair. The chicks are kept in the warm for the first 28 days and then move to the arcs. They roam outdoors all day or come and go freely. They eat a balanced feed, free from additives, antibiotics and growth promoters, which varies to suit their needs.

Storage & prep

We guarantee that your order of meat and fish will have 3 days before its expiry date, including the day you have it delivered. All of our meat and fish can be frozen. To roast your chicken drumsticks, allow 25 minutes per 500g plus 25 minutes in a preheated oven at 190C/374F/gas 5. Cook thoroughly until the juices run clear when pierced with a skewer and there is no pink meat. Chicken should be kept at a very cool temperature, wrapped and kept away from other foods, in the bottom of the fridge. Chicken can be frozen, but should be thoroughly defrosted before cooking. Cooked chicken should not be reheated once it has cooled -any leftovers should be cooled to room temperature, refrigerated within 2 hours and eaten within two days.Higher Fingle Farm vac-pack all their chicken pieces as this keeps the packaging to a minimum. Upon opening, vac-packed chicken can sometimes have a strong smell, but don't worry, remove the plastic and let the meat rest for 10 or 15 minutes and the odour will disappear.
