The Vegalfaro Estate in Utiel-Requena, Spain, is home to many a fine wine. The organic grapes are all picked by hand, and are carefully selected to make sure they're in their prime. Existing in its own microclimate, the vineyard is truly unique, and has always been eco-friendly, so much so that the land has never been treated with pesticides in an almost 3000 year winemaking tradition. This clean way of doing things has preserved the soil's natural qualities, and along with the cooling shadows that swathe the slopes, the good drainage it has, and being surrounded by woods and aromatic plants, the wines have truly special and distinctive characteristics. In fact, in 2011 the winery was awarded the Pago qualification, which is considered the highest ranking a Spanish vineyard can achieve, from where wines with singular characteristics and qualities are created.
