Turmeric Twister

A smoothie to twist and shout about, leafy kale brings its green goodness to this summertime sipper of crisp apples and cool cucumber blended with a dash of coconut oil and golden slices of fresh turmeric.

Ingredients you'll need
  • 2 apples
  • 1 ridged cucmber
  • 50g kale
  • A thumb of turmeric
  • 10g coconut oil
  • 330ml almond drink

  • A few ice cubes

Step by step this way

    Quarter the apples and slice out the cores. Roughly chop the apples and add them to your blender. Peel the ridged cucumber (the skin can be bitter), roughly chop it and add it to the blender.

    Finely shred the kale, discarding any really thick or dry stems. Add the kale to the blender. Scrub the turmeric and thinly slice it (no need to peel it unless you want to – see our tip about preparing and drinking raw turmeric). Add the turmeric to the blender.

    Pour in the coconut oil and 330ml almond drink (save the rest for this week’s other smoothies). Drop in a few ice cubes then blitz till smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.
