Tomorange Crush

Prep: 5 mins
We've got a not-so-secret crush on this beautifully bright smoothie. Is it the zingy mix of oranges and juicy tomatoes? The lingering heat from the fresh chilli? Or the refreshing splash of maple water? Maybe it's all three. We think we love you Tomorange, will you go out with us?

Ingredients you'll need
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 oranges
  • 1 chilli
  • 300ml maple water
From your kitchen
  • A few ice cubes
Step by step this way
  • 1.

Roughly chop the tomatoes and add them to your blender. Slice the skin and white pith off the oranges, then segment the oranges, slicing the juicy flesh away from the thin membranes. Add the orange flesh to the blender. Hold the membranes over the blender and give them a good squeeze to get out any juice. Press on any flesh still attached to the skin to squeeze any remaining juice out of that too.

  • 2.

How much chilli you use depends on how spicy you want your smoothie. For a milder flavour, halve the chilli and scoop out the seeds and pith (this is where most of the heat lives, so leave them out unless you like it really hot). Add ¼, ½, ¾ or the whole deseeded chilli to the blender.

  • 3.

Pour in the maple water and add a few ice cubes. Blitz till combined, and serve.
