- 1 mango
- 1 carrot
- 2 oranges
- 2 cardamom pods
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 250ml almond milk
- A few ice cubes
- 1.
Slice the fat cheeks off the mango, as close to the stone as possible. Slice off the thinner cheeks and the skin, then roughly chop the flesh and add to your blender. Scrub, trim and roughly chop the carrot (no need to peel it unless you want to).
- 2.
Slice the peel and pith off the oranges, then slice the segments out of the papery membranes. Add the segments to the blender and squeeze the membranes over the blender to wring in any remaining juice.
- 3.
Press 2 cardamom pods with the back of a spoon to open them out, then shake the black seeds into the blender. Add ½ tsp turmeric.
- 4.
Give the almond milk a good shake, then pour it in. Add a few ice cubes and blitz everything together for a few mins. Pour into 2 glasses and serve.

You just need a little turmeric in this smoothie - dried turmeric packs a powerful punch when it comes for flavour. Your leftover turmeric will keep well (especially if you transfer it to a small try or tub). You can make tea with your leftover turmeric. Put 1/2 tsp turmeric in a cup and add 1/2 tsp cinnamon and a pinch of black pepper. Pour in 250ml boiling water and add a little honey or lemon juice to taste.
