- ½-1 melon
- 2 oranges
- A pinch or two of cayenne pepper
- 250ml hazelnut drink
- A few ice cubes
- 1.
Halve the melon, scoop out the seeds from 1 half, then scoop the flesh out of the skin and add to your blender (see our tip for using the whole melon).
- 2.
Add a pinch or two of cayenne pepper (cayenne is very spicy, so use as much or little as you prefer).
- 3.
Pour in the hazelnut drink and add a few ice cubes. Blitz till smooth. Pour the smoothie into glasses and top with extra sprinkles of cayenne before serving.

You've got the salad
If you've got a big blender, you can use all the melon to make a jug of smoothie. Alternatively, why not turn it into a refreshing summer salad? Cube the melon and toss in a bowl with sliced cucumber, sliced red onion, a handful of black olives, a drizzle of olive oil and a squeeze of lemon juice. Season, and crumble over a little feta or toasted almonds to finish.
