An eye-opening blend of sweet and sour, this smoothie mixes tart grapefruit with fudgy dates, soft bananas and nutty flax seeds, whizzed together with creamy hazelnut drink.

  • 1 grapefruit
  • 2 bananas
  • 50g dried dates
  • 15g flax seeds
  • 330ml hazelnut drink

Step by step this way

    Carve the skin from the grapefruit using a sharp knife, removing as much bitter white pith as possible. Cutting either side of the membrane, remove the grapefruit segments and place them in your blender. Squeeze in any juice from the membranes.

    Peel and break in the bananas. Roughly chop the dates and add those. Scatter in the flax seeds. Pour in 330ml hazelnut drink, saving the rest for your remaining smoothies this week. Drop in a few ice cubes then blend till smooth.
