- 1 mango
- 1 banana
- A thumb of turmeric
- 15g flax seeds
- 1 lemon
- 330ml tiger nut drink
- A few ice cubes

Slice the fat cheeks off the mango stone, then slice off the thinner sides. Slice the mango flesh off the skin and pop it into your blender. Slice as much flesh off the stone as you can and add that too.

Peel and break in the banana. Grate in half the thumb of turmeric (see our turmeric tip below). Shake in the flax seeds. Grate in the lemon zest and squeeze in the juice from 1 half.

Pour in 330ml tiger nut drink (save the rest of the carton for this week’s other smoothies). Add a handful of ice cubes and blitz till smooth and creamy. Taste, grate in more turmeric if you like and whizz again. Pour into 2 glasses and serve.
- Tip
Mellow Yellow
Fresh turmeric has a warm, earthy flavour, so if you’ve never tried it raw, start by adding a little to this smoothie, then taste and add more if you want more of a kick. And remember that turmeric stains things a striking shade of yellow, so grate it onto a plate or a board you can wash up straight away, and wear gloves and an apron to keep your hands and clothes stain free.
