- 100g beetroot
- 2 blood oranges
- 1cm slice of ginger
- 330ml brown rice drink
- A few ice cubes
- Blender
- Measuring jug
- 1.
Scrub and coarsely grate the beetroot (no need to peel it). Peel the blood oranges, removing as much white pith as you can. Halve the oranges and flick out any pips. Slice 1cm off the ginger and finely chop it.
- 2.
Add the beetroot, blood oranges and ginger to your blender with a few ice cubes. Pour in 330ml brown rice drink (save the rest for this week’s other smoothies). Blitz smooth, pour into a couple of glasses and serve.
- Tip
Purple alert
Beetroot likes to stain everything red, so be careful when you're preparing it for this smoothie. Use a glass chopping board, or one you can wash up straight away, and protect your hands by wearing gloves. - Tip
Careful now
If you’re new to smoothies, please be aware that raw beetroot can be potent when blitzed into drinks. Try tasting a little at first and drink it slowly.
