A thick, green smoothie of creamy avocado blitzed with sweet dates, juicy melon and fresh leaves that makes the perfect base for a smoothie bowl. Or knock it back just as it is.

Ingredients you'll need
  • 1 avocado
  • 2 Medjool dates
  • ½ melon
  • 50g baby leaf spinach

  • 250ml ice cold water
  • A few ice cubes
Step by step this way

    Halve the avocado, scoop out the stone and then scoop the flesh out the skins. Pop it in the blender. Halve the dates, pop out the stones and add the dates to the blender. Halve the melon, scoop out the seeds from 1 half, then scoop the flesh out of the skin and add to the avocado and dates.

    Tuck the baby leaf spinach into the blender and pour in 250ml cold water and a few ice cubes. Blitz till smooth and combined. Serve straight away.

  • Tip

    Extra, extra
    You need a large blender to make this smoothie. If yours is smaller, blitz together the avocado, dates, melon and water, then pour half into a jug. Add the spinach to the remaining mix in the blender, blitz till combined and then stir into the melon smoothie in the jug.

  • Tip

    The big freeze
    You can freeze the remaining melon, ready to add to smoothies. Simply scoop out the seeds, slice off the skin and chop the melon. Spread out on a baking tray and freeze till solid, then store in a freezerproof box.
