Storage & prep

Keep refrigerated and consume within 24 hours after opening. Not suitable for home freezing.

Rinse mussels under cold water. Discard any that are cracked or don’t close when tapped.
In a large pot, heat oil or butter over medium heat. Add garlic (and shallots if using) and sauté for 1–2 minutes.
Add liquid: Pour in stock (or wine) and bring to a boil.
Add mussels, cover with a lid, and steam for 4–5 minutes.
Shake the pot occasionally. Mussels are done when shells open.
Finish: Discard any unopened mussels.
Sprinkle with parsley and serve with lemon wedges.

Alternative Flavor ideas:
Marinière: Add cream and herbs for a French-style sauce.
Spicy Tomato: Steam in a tomato-chili base for a Mediterranean twist.
Asian Style: Use coconut milk, ginger, and lemongrass.
