Dried Orange Peel, Ginger & Honey Tea

Save your orange peels from the compost bin. Dry them. Then turn them into a refreshing herbal tea with a spicy slice of ginger and a drizzle of honey.

Ingredients

  • A handful of orange peel
  • ½cm thick slice of ginger
  • Honey, to taste

Method

1. Preheat your oven to 100°C/Fan 80°C/Gas ¼. Take the orange peel and use a small, sharp knife to slice as much white pith off them as you can. Spread the orange peel out on a baking tray and slide into the oven. Gently bake the skins for 2 hrs till the peel has dried out and started to curl up at the edges. Let the peel cool, before transferring to an airtight jar. The dried peel will keep for several months in the jar.
2. To make the tea, put a few pieces of dried orange peel into a mug. Add a slice of ginger. Fill the cup with freshly boiled water. Let it steep for 1-2 mins. Scoop out the peel and ginger. Add honey to taste and serve.
