This week's field notes

Every week one of our biggest veg enthusiasts, Anne, tells us what to expect when we're expecting fruit & veg. We'll give you a little heads up with you'll be likely to find in your veg box and some handy tips and tricks for the bounty it holds.

"Signs of Spring might be on the horizon, yet our shelves are still packed with wonderful Winter citrus," Anne tells us, with a smile.

This means organic grapefruit, blood oranges and mandarins will all appear in boxes from 27th of Feb and you'll even be able to grab a few extra, too. This week will also see the last of organic blood orange season, so do catch them while you can. Lucky for us, we’ve had a slightly longer season than anticipated thanks to those clever Italians and their great groves.

Meanwhile, veg-wise it's still very much Winter which means ravishing roots in boxes, although we’ll wave farewell to celeriac, there's still plenty of swede, beetroot, parsnips, carrots and of course your classic Abel & Cole organic spuds. There's many a celery in boxes, too - check our our Lover's guide link at the bottom of the page.

What's new, pussycat?

Spring onions are back and available to buy in bunches to top up your box. They come from Camposeven, a farming cooperative in Spain. Bunched beetroot is also back, from Vittorio Gona in Sicily.
