Organic Brussels Sprouts are for life, not just for Christmas. These little green baubles of joy are delicious enough to convert even the most stubborn, and we challenge anyone not to ask for a second helping after they’ve tried them. They’re easy-peasy to prepare too. Just score a little cross in the bottom, peel off the outer leaves and boil or roast them until perfectly tender and juicy. Then it’s simply a case of lathering them with butter and enjoying every last bite.

Oh, and they’re ideal all mixed up with our organic lardons too, if you needed any further convincing…

Ingredients & allergens

Abel & Cole handles celery, celeriac and nuts on site. Due to our packing process and re-use of boxes there is a risk of cross-contamination from these, and all other allergens.

Storage & prep

Firstly peel away any damaged outer leaves; these are left on for delivery to protect the inner brussel. You may like to cut a cross along the bottom of the vegetable, but this could be a waste of time as they cook perfectly well without and this may even lead to loss of flavour or shape. Place them in a tightly covered pan with 2-3 centimetres (1in) of boiling, salted water. They should be ready after 8-10 minutes unless they are huge! Then drain and finish in the various ways described in the recipes. You should keep your Brussels sprouts wrapped, to keep them crisp, crunchy and fresh. Store in your fridge and eat as soon as possible. Suitable for home freezing.

Matters of the heart & soil
Organic farms by nature, save the long term fertility of the soil by allowing worms, insects and more to flourish. There are more living organisms in a handful of good soil than there are people on earth.
