Old-fashioned, award-winning, melt-in-your mouth slices of traditionally smoked ham, from organic West Country-grazing pigs. This is English ham at its finest.
While you can slap it between two slices of bread (if you do, might we recommend our Long Crichel bakery in Dorset), we like to make a song and dance out of this ham.
Pan-fry it and serve alongside a heap of mash and a bit of lovely veg from your weekly box. Use to make classic Eggs Benedict, or an omelette. We also like serving it as part of a hearty Ploughman’s.
We sent our food hunters out on a mission to find the best ham in the land and rambling through the West Country, they stumbled upon Dorset Farms. These guys specialise in ham and have turned the heads of chefs and food critics who rate it as ‘Proper ham, the real thing!’ We’ve nibbled our way through a good few slices and we certainly agree.
They source their meat from organic, West Country pigs. Then, they work their magic with expert curing and smoking techniques. Respecting tradition, they’d never add water or any other unnecessary bulking agents, or other junk that has no natural place in ham.
Instead, they take their lead from previous generations who produced ham by hand in the farmhouse kitchen as a way of preserving pork meat and producing good, wholesome food.
