Chocolate and cherries are the perfect pair. Green & Black's use sweet and tangy dried cherries in this dark chocolate bar, made using 60% cocoa solids. Nibble it straight from the wrapper or melt it into a batch of brownies.
It all started back in 1991 when Craig Sams was sent a sample of dark 70% chocolate made from organic cocoa beans. His wife, environment columnist for The Times, Josephine Fairley, found the half eaten bar on Craig's desk and sampled some for herself. Soon after they set about making the world's first organic chocolate. Maya Gold was added to the range in 1994 following an unexpected meeting with a group of Mayan smallholder farmers in Belize. Craig & Jo agreed to buy the farmers' cocoa at a fair price and used the beans to create Maya Gold - based on the flavour of a traditional Mayan chocolate drink and this soon earned them the UK's first Fairtrade mark. Green & Black's is now owned by Cadbury but remains true to the original values of their business, with a focus on ethical trading practices & organic products.A darker shade of milk chocolate. Green & Black's use more cocoa mass in their milk chocolate than the majority of chocolate producers, therefore placing the emphasis on the chocolate rather than the milk.
