Lots of love

It’s Organic September.  An odd month to hold Organic September in, but an excellent excuse to hear why you love organic.

We may talk a lot about their notebook-eating dogs and speed-skating, but we really love our farmers for their organic food.

We know our farmers really well, chat to them every day, and that’s how we know we’re getting the best organic veg.

Why do you choose organic? Leave a comment below if you fancy.  Here’s what our farmers have to say:

“I’ve been organic since about 1996, and even when I wasn’t officially organic I didn’t use chemicals. White clover over a farm is a fantastic thing for the soil. I love it when it all grows back – it just looks great!  I like organic farming because it’s gentle. It’s not using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.” Paul Ward, Mole End Farm

“The farm started converting to organic in 1997.  We love organic here because it tastes great, and we take our own veg home.  It’s also great for the wildlife.  We’ve got 190 different species of bird here and they love being organic.  It just feels like the right way to farm, it makes sense.  It’s a sustainable way of looking after the land for the next generation.” James Brown, Pollybell Farm

Organic is more than growing vegetables without chemicals. It’s about doing everything responsibly and sustainably.  Ready more about our guiding principles here.

    Hi
I love my boxes as I try new veggies that I would never have thought of trying and it makes meals more enjoyable

Some 60 years ago I was calf rearing on a farm that used artificial fertilizers, herbicides etc. The calves were on a lush young ley. The farmer told me to take them out some minerals each day. I did so. The calves came tearing up to gobble what looked to me liked powdered brick dust. Then they were moved to some old parkland with plenty of deep-rooting “weeds” that had never had artificials. I offered them the minerals, but they ignored them. They obviously knew something that even today some scientists don’t know! Moreover, I buy Soil Association animal products because of their welfare standards. My conscience would not allow me to eat factory farmed products. NB That farm I worked on went organic many years ago, so I know the offspring of my calves are having a good life.

I am so happy I have discovered Abel and Cole. I feel so good feeding my family healthy products and get great comfort knowing that we are also supporting British Farming. We are even having a veg patch put in our garden with a chicken coop. Im so excited! Thanks Abel and Cole for inspiring us! :o )

For four years my daughter was diagnosed with crohn’s, colitis, and other nasties. Each time, another Dr would say “no, it’s not that”. And all the time she was tired, grey, bloated and ill. You don’t want to know the symptoms, but they were stealing her best years. We tried all sorts of exclusion diets. No good.
I am allergic to many chemicals on my skin and suddenly thought, perhaps she was allergic to chemicals in her food. We emptied our cupboards and restocked with organic food. Within four days she had markedly improved. Within two weeks she was well again.

I eat organic because I keep reptiles that eat veggies too and I want to make sure we’re all getting something safe for our meals. Even with our delicate tummies!

I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which is a collagen disorder which also means I develop sensitivities and allergies to food as my stomach is heavily effected – I have noticed when I get fresher, chemically cleaner foods my internal symptoms are much better. :¬)

Firstly, I am not posh, clever or rich. I live in a council house and we live off one wage as I am unable to due to bad health. I am 27 and prioritise eating organic by not drinking alcohol, or smoking and I buy clothes second hand. It’s only by doing this that we can afford our boxes, which I adore. I am also vegan as love animals but it’s cheaper too :o )

I love the variety of the boxes, I love the taste and know that if I don’t eat fresh food and eat rubbish for a day then I get very depresssed, sluggish and my panic attacks get worse :( I love the higher nutritional value in organic food and I adore the fresh ‘clean’ taste. When I eat properly then physicallly I feel better inside and want to face each day instead of battling my mental health issues.

I love that Abel and Cole give you a free mini mince pie at christmas, a calendar at new year! They do competitions, customer service amazing, send shoes to African children… I have recommended people to them and they always adore the company.

I wrote to Keith Abel himself to say how much I love his company and he personally replied!!

Before Abel and Cole delivered i my wee west yorkshire town I was with other companies and none of them matched up, or even came close to the excellentness of A&C. The website, your dislikes list, you can add extras from the huge variety from the online shop… free box for recommending a friend. What more can I say? Can’t do better than that!

Moral of my post; you don’t have to be rich or clever or a celebrity/lawyer/footballer to afford A&C boxes. If you do decide to get one you’ll never go back to the tasteless, old, skanky supermarket veg again, you’ll feel and look so much better and be doing our planet and the animals a huge favour. Keith Abel and all his staff ROCK xx

‘We are what we eat’…. I am currently working towards a Life Science degree and have learnt so much. I could very well close my eyes but when I see my mum, my friends and other people getting diagnosed with cancer or dementia…. my heart ‘cries’. It has been scientifically proven that not only our metabolism slowly get poisoned by ‘non organic’ food (one very good example is aspartame in diet drinks which kills brain cells, the only cells in our body which aren’t renewable) but the planet also suffers the consequences, not just now but over many years. So it is such a delight to take the right direction, to choose the right ‘white’ science, support nature and other people by all means. After a ‘spring clean’ of all our cupboards, all we can see on our labels is ‘organic’ and we know, that we are supporting organic farming, businesses, and participating in making this beautiful planet a more secure/healthier environment for all of us, our siblings and animal kingdom who we depend on… As Einstein once said “If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live.”. Abel & Cole, it’s therefore such a pleasure to be your customer. Thank you for what you are doing. And as others mentioned, I also love your type of customer service, cunning indeed!
