Our free range, organic turkeys come from two family farms. Tom Copas and Paul Kelly’s birds are of exceptional quality and a world away from dry, flavourless, mass-produced birds. Look at their happy little faces as they gossip and amble about on Tom Copas’ fields.
The turkeys are treated like royalty – romping around open countryside eating an organic diet for six months. They are raised to the highest welfare standards.
Because they are reared to full maturity, they have a natural layer of fat which means you don’t need to baste or cover them in bacon to retain moisture. Your bird will be hung for two weeks (which develops the flavour even more). The result is a fabulous texture, superior fat cover and outstanding flavour. They might cost a little more but nothing quite beats an organic turkey at Christmas.
Interesting turkey fact we learned when we went a-visiting: turkeys are very stupid, and very good at bumping into things. Also, they like a good bit of call and response (the girls respond to one noise, and the boys to another).

Has anyone else had to pluck their organic turkey, ours is covered in feather stubble! Presently 3 people with tweezers trying to get them out so we can start roasting it. Surely this is not what one should be doing on Christmas morning?

Yes we had to pluk the turkey, but boy was it worth it! The nicest turkey in years!

My turkey crown wasn’t as cleanly plucked as I would have liked and took much longer to cook than expected, having followed the A&C instructions and made careful calculations.

The stubble didn’t matter if you don’t eat the skin it’s healthier!! – always gone for good turkeys but this turkey is the best I’ve ever had.

Despite the delay, have to agree, a very fine bird! Don’t eat the skin?! Who wants to eat healthily at Christmas? Turkey soup anyone?

Thank you so much for making our Christmas not only easy (no shopping – just clicking) but also the best Christmas meal that we have EVER had – according to our guests. Everything was TOP NOTCH – the pigs in blankets were superb, the turkey crown excellent and all the fruit and vegetables were fresh. A wonderful delivery. Thank you so much. Wishing you all even more success in 2012.

Hello everyone,
We are so happy to hear that the turkey’s were enjoyed by all (and even a few ‘non-beleivers’ were converted!). Our organic turkeys were all plucked by hand, so there may have been a few stray feathers – my apologies for any inconvenience caused. The quills should be easy to remove once the bird has been cooked and the meat is warm rather than cold. Of course, we are always happy to hear from you if you have any questions or concerns.
I’m afraid that you will have to wait until next Christmas for more turkey Colin, though I think it makes it all the more enjoyable!
Best Wishes, Emily
