Hi,
I’m Clauds and I work at Abel & Cole.
I like cows and crafting and recycling. I thought I’d share my current crafty project with you – it combines at least two of the above.
It all started with a crochet needle and some old box string. And the fact that my living room needs a rug.
And it grew…
And now it’s big enough for three people and a statue duck to stand on.
Or a menagerie of farmyard animals (and a hedgehog).
I’m a long way off finishing it, but I’ll keep you photographically posted.
Clauds

that’s awesome
) the best I’ve managed with my box string, is some friendship bracelets.

Very ingenious, the most I’ve used mine for is to make a “belt” for a shepherds costume at Christmas and for tying up a Sale Banner for our scout club

Brilliant idea! I try to use my box string too, but I’ve not come up with anything as creative as this!

Brilliant, I was thinking of doing this myself as soon as I A) collect enough string and B) find my crochet hook. You could also make coasters or placemats the same way. Or if you’re really clever, a hat.

Wow! An inspiration! Like it a lot

Awesome – I have made a string bag, table mats (granny-squares, but they’re quite annoying as you end up with so many loose ends to weave in, much easier to hide in something solid) and an MP3 player sock. The rug is pretty darned (hah ha) impressive though – very ambitious!

I like this idea! So far I’ve only had one delivery. I used one peice of string to hang up a mirror. I was keeping the rest because I was sure it would come in handy…now I’m convinced it will. Thanks for sharing =)

My daughter has been using the A&C string in firelighters… I have held up tomatoes and peas with it (last summer), knitted a washcloth for scrubbing veg
, a jumper for a teddy, and an ipod sock… and there is *still* tons of the ruddy (we love it really!) stuff left…

Great idea, I have been collecting my two pieces of box string every week. But so far I have not used it very creatively. You gave me some good ideas. Thanks

You have inspired me! I really need a cheerful throw for the sofa and you have just reminded me that I do have a crochet hook and lots of odd balls of wool.

Great Creativity and crafty skill from fellow A&C customers!! Apart from the odd escaped one, which helped control my tomatoes, I’ve always returned my string with the box on the assumption A&C would reuse them like they reuse the box………….. Do you reuse the string?
