Aluminium is made from bauxite which turns up in soil in loads of places all over the world - in fact it's one of the earth's most abundant metals. It's produced by strip mining. Most significantly, to turn bauxite into aluminium you have to melt it and then pass humungous currents of electricity through it to separate the oxygen from the ore.
This aluminium foil is made from 100% recycled aluminium, and 95% less energy is required than for manufacturing primary aluminium.
