When they’re not in season in Europe, we get our grapes from two farms in South Africa. Santa Spandenberg’s farm is in Kakamas, in the northern Cape region. Santa was keen to convert to organic as soon as she started working on the farm, caring as much for her local environment as she does her farm workers, investing in schools and health care for their families.
Eddie Redelinghuys grows his grapes in the Western cape, about 50 miles from Cape Town. He converted his whole farm to organic in 1998, and he has more talents than just growing amazing grapes. In 2001 he convinced the city of Cape Town to stop land-filling green waste. He now composts all the city’s green waste
Grapes make a great addition to sweet and savoury salads, and are wonderful to eat on their own. Grapes will keep fine in your fruit bowl, although they last longer in the fridge. Use within four or five days of delivery.
